BBQ Sauce

As bbq the name itself makes one tongue watery and the mind wandering. The aroma of barbecued meat, chicken, pork or beef in a sunny afternoon can be refreshing and enjoyable. So to add more color and flavor to the roasted, cooked or baked meat in the smoker or grill we add the bbq sauce to it. Sauce by itself is a liquid or a semi liquid kind of substance that add color and aroma to the food. It cannot be eaten in separate. Instead, it is added to several dishes to make them delicious. Sauce is a French word and the person that specializes in sauces is called saucier. Sauces can be bought from stores or can be homemade too. It is often used in salads to be called as salad dressing.

The bbq sauce is a condiment that ranges from being watery to quite thick. It is basically an accompaniment to the barbecued meat, ribs or beef. It is usually given on the top of the meat or when the chicken is getting grilled or baked. It is essential when you are roasting those ribs. Bbq sauce might combine ingredients that can be sour, sweet, salt and tangy. Some of the common ingredients of a bbq sauce are tomato paste, spices, vinegar, and sweeteners.

The variation in taste and ingredients of barbecue sauce is mostly due to different geographical regions. Certain areas of US especially the southern parts favor mustard-based bbq sauces. People of Texas prefer tomato-based bbq sauce. The first barbecue sauce that was commercially produced was prepared made by Louis Maull Co. in the year 1926. However the first nationally distributed bbq sauce was by Heinz in US in 1948. Many restaurants specialize in variety of barbeque sauces.
